Renovation of Windsor Village, WALTHAM, MA

In 1999, Design Consultants, Inc. (DCI) undertook a very complex survey for General Investment and Development Company on a 600 unit apartment complex on 37 acres in the northwest corner of Waltham.

The services provided included a boundary survey, a topographical/detail survey and establishment of the location of all on-site utilities. In addition, because the site abuts Hardy Pond and Chester Brook, DCI had to establish and locate the limits of bordering vegetative wetlands, the limit of a flood hazard zone per FEMA maps and the inner and outer riparian zones according to the Massachusetts Rivers Act.

DCI also established roof peak heights on all of the buildings to aid the architectural team in their rehab design endeavors to adhere to zoning regulations. GPS technology was utilized to establish Massachusetts State Plane coordinates in accordance with Waltham Engineering Department requirements for site plan development.

The density of buildings, roads and parking areas complicated by a 130 foot elevation change over the property presented a serious survey challenge met by DCI.

The plans produced by DCI have been utilized not only by our Client, but also by Architects involved in building modification, by Landscape Architects designing site improvements and by environmental attorneys addressing site limitation issues.
